About Me

Dr. Sachs earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychotherapy. He received diagnostic training at The Child Study Center in Chicago, conducting neuropsychological evaluations of children with ADHD.

Dr. Sachs continued his training at Mt. Sinai and Cook County General Hospitals, conducting therapy and psychological assessments in their Adolescent Psychiatry clinic.  At Mt. Sinai Hospital, Dr. Sachs led a support group for parents of children with ADHD. He also worked at the University of Chicago’s Orthogenic School, helping teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD and Bipolar Disorder.

Dr. Sachs did his internship and post-doctoral residency at the Children’s Institute (CII) in Los Angeles, concentrating on the diagnosis and treatment of abused and neglected children and adolescents.  Most recently, he served as a supervising psychologist at CII, mentoring and training therapists in the assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based treatment of children with neurobehavioral disorders. At the Children’s Institute, Dr. Sachs created a social skills group for boys (Buffalo Boys) and girls (Moon Dancers) with ADHD.  Last year, Dr Sachs authored a workbook, Helping the Traumatized Child, to assist new clinicians in the treatment of PTSD in children.  Dr. Sachs is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Gestalt Associates training program.

Dr. Sachs specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with ADD/ADHD. He conducts comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, with the goal of determining the individual’s unique strengths and areas of weakness. Accurate assessments can then guide treatment and offer solution-focused recommendations for real change. Dr. Sachs uses an eclectic approach in his treatment of adults, examining the “roadblocks” that prevent the individual from reaching his or her desired potential.
